Comcast Wideband is coming
By Chirag | January 9, 2008
Wow this is exciting news!!
I just heard the launch of Wideband (or at least the announcement about it), by Comcast’s CEO Brian Roberts. What is it and what does it mean?
Well basically, Robert’s did a demo by downloading a 300MB file using a standard cable modem, which he downloaded in 17 seconds!! How cool is that?

The problem for me is that being from a small country (New Zealand), we are behind on download speeds via the internet. So for us we are probably still a few years away from this super fast technology. Though there has been no offical launch date for the technology in the US. As for pricing, this is still yet to be decided, but the technology is real and is obviously working from the demo that Robert’s performed.
I say watch this space….
